Art in government buildings

""

Each year the Danish Building and Property Agency is in charge of carrying out many exciting art projects in connection with our building activities. In all larger state construction projects, 1.5% of the labour costs are allocated. Art can contribute to underlining the identity of a company or an institution and provide an extra dimension every day for the people who move about there.

The art projects are essentially carried out as building integrated art, which is to say that the art is created for the site and is a part of the interaction with the architecture. Throughout time, art and decoration have been an important part of the architecture, but in the last decades the traditional concept of art has been challenged, so that it does not just include paintings and sculptures, but also digital art such as video installations and light and sound art.
